I was storm chasing in the central west rural district of NSW. Unfortunately the approaching squall line had weaked and become a thundery rain event and not worthy of photographing.

Determined to make something from my day I saw a weakening gap develop in the line to the south, so I took a gamble and shot off at a rate of knots thinking that I may get a stunning sunset for all my efforts of the day. What eventuated would easily be the most stunning rainbow I have ever photographed. The next challenge was finding somewhere to photograph it. I spotted this dead tree and dam, I hit the brakes, grabbed my gear and took off jumping the barb wire fence. Luckily bare feet proved the footwear of choice as the mud was ankle deep and extremely sticky! All worth it in the end and after the show was over and I cleaned up. I then eased off content as a man could be with how it all panned out.
