After receiving a photo album of my late Great aunts some 13 yrs ago which had images from her worldwide travels in particular I was mesmerized by her photographs from Lord Howe Island which had spectacular lenticular clouds capping the rugged and remote peaks. My imagination was swept away and I had long developed a desire to photograph a similar scenario. So having once seen the same phenomenon at couple of spots around South Gippsland and knowing the mechanisms required to be in place I was jubilant when it all fell into place offshore as Rodondo Island rises starkly out of the clear blue water that surround Wilsons Prom. The strong moist easterly winds plough into the rugged granite peak, forced to rise and condense, thus forming a visible cloud, like a veil of mystique shrouds the peak of the island before thinning and dissipating on the leeward side - in this case the right of frame.
